v0.1
React Native Mobile App
Until now the app has been developed as PWA for web. Development has started on a React Native mobile app and development for the web app has been discontinued. Our current focus is on porting all existing features over to the mobile app, after which we’ll continue adding new features there.
The web app will still be available at tv.bernburg.is until the mobile app has reached public testing or launch. It will however not receive any updates or new features. All your data will be ported over so no worries about starting over.
What does this mean?
The mobile app will be released on both iOS and Android, offering more native features than a PWA could. This opens the door for SDK integrations, such as connecting to your favourite streaming services and automatically syncing your watch history.
Testing for the new mobile app is currently closed. Once it reaches TestFlight, iOS users will be able to sign up for a closed beta.
The changelog will continue to be updated so you can follow development progress and receive important news as soon as it’s available.
Development Roadmap
The mobile app will roll out in nine planned stages:
v0.1.1 will focus on cleaning up the mobile build, matching it to the current web app, fixing bugs, making minor improvements, and improving the changelog.
v0.1.2 will bring general improvements, introduce new features, enhance existing ones, apply more UI changes, fix ratings, and add more of a social feature to the account page.
v0.1.3 will improve the shows themselves, improving watched functionality, add lists, expand show details (episodes, cast, etc.), and refine the search engine.
v0.1.4 will overhaul the signup flow and add email integration.
v0.1.5 will deliver a full branding refresh with a new visual identity, logo, and name.
v0.1.6 will concentrate on speed and performance improvements.
v0.1.7 will include finishing touches to already existing pages, and improve the organization system.
v0.1.8 will introduce subscription features and ads.
Finally, v0.1.9 will focus on website updates.
After that the app should be ready for app store release, closed beta will hopefully launch somewhere between version 0.1.3 and 0.1.5.
